The Edoceo Element is a Gentoo GNU/Linux platform that is tuned and ready for operation in business environments. Clients looking for Linux servers can choose from RedHat, Novell or other distributors, with expensive licensing fees, Element has none. There are dozens of other binary distributions such as Debian & Ubuntu, with their variations. Gentoo, and therefore Element, are more customizable/tunable to the business environment and provide a more stable base. This system delivers on the low TCO promises made by Linux and other Open Source software, provides excellent reliability and is fully vendor supported.
Element uses Gentoo binary packages to speed the installation of basic required system packages and the supported extensions. All updates are distributed via the Gentoo standard Portage system, there are no new tools to learn.
